"Grown men can learn from very little children for the hearts of the little children are pure. Therefore, the Great Spirit may show to them many things which older people miss." -
Black Elk, Oglala Sioux Holy Man
Two days ago a writer in Vermont — whose stories so many of us look for every day — posted a story about a ten year old boy who braved broken jagged ice in a frozen pond
to save the life of a dog. A dog who weighs 165 pounds. His name is CODA. The story is what Black Elk speaks of above. "Grown men can learn from very little children...."
I don't know how many people take the time to thank
Life with Dogs. I hope they are many expressing gratitude. For Life with Dogs could just as well be Life with Love. For many of us involved in advocacy, activism, rescue the stories this earnest, compassionate and all things bright and beautiful writer chooses to share provide lifesaving winds of sunlight we cling to amidst the sadness, tragedy and sometimes unspeakable horror in the daily reports of abuse which cannot be ignored. I read the story of the 10 year old who braved frozen waters to save a dog named CODA, all 165 lbs of him. I closed my eyes and said thank you for bringing this story to all of us today. I love Life with Dogs. You give us Hope. Every day. And yours is such a Life of Love.
